Students in 4th and 5th grade who are searching for a fun, challenging, friendly competition of wits need look no further! The Battle of the Books is back and in-person this year.

Battle of the Books is a program designed to encourage reading and give recognition to those who like to read. Team members each read from a list of books selected by the Children’s Department of the Sewickley Public Library, and compete with other teams by answering trivia questions based on the books.

Those who are interested in participating in Battle of the Books should have an Allegheny County Library card and form a BOB team of 4 to 5 members, with an adult team manager. Space is limited to 15 teams per grade. Battle of the Books Registration forms will be available at the SPL Children’s Department or at your school library starting January 3, 2022. All forms are to be turned into the SPL Children’s Department by January 25.

New this year – we’re hosting a Team Manager Meeting on Tuesday, January 25 at 7pm. This meeting is just for the adult Team Managers to go over the procedures for Battle of the Books. Teams will also receive the booklist at this time.
