Artists Get Creative

This month marks a one-year anniversary since the Sewickley Public Library introduced art workshops designed for adults with adaptive needs. Participants of all skill levels and styles, along with their caregivers, are welcomed to explore their creativity at our instructor-guided programs. Each workshop runs for approximately 60-90 minutes and projects range from pencil drawing to collage to watercolor painting and more. Participants are encouraged to express themselves through visual mediums. Not only do artists explore different techniques, but they also learn about different artists or styles in the process.

The program has truly blossomed since last Spring when it was first offered, with enrollment reaching its maximum this month. Recognizing a local need for adaptive activities for adults, the library plans to continue providing this valuable program by seeking grant funding that would enable the library to offer the program more often at no cost to individuals.

The library will offer another Adaptive Art for Adults workshop this summer. For more information about the next program, follow the library’s event calendar or sign up for our weekly emails.
