Beginning May 5, we join with Give Big Pittsburgh to come together to support local organizations. The COVID-19 Response Campaign is an effort to help nonprofits in Western Pennsylvania raise critical funds – in the safest way possible – during this time of unprecedented need. This local campaign ties into the global #GivingTuesdayNow movement.
Libraries have never been one to shy away from a crisis. During this pandemic, Sewickley Public Library continues to rise to the challenge and provide essential services for the community. We equip students, parents and teachers with online educational tools to support at-home learning. We offer career resources for job seekers and provide online programs like storytimes and discussion groups to keep the community connected. Since our doors closed, our librarians kept our services going by answering over 500 phone and online chat requests, loaning over 5,500 ebooks from our online collection, and hosting over 30 virtual programs.
Sewickley Public Library is committed to continue our mission to provide access to resources and tools that address the needs of the Quaker Valley community, but we need help. The past has taught us that when the economy is down, the library is busier than ever. Our community turns to its library for help finding jobs, assistance learning new skills, and for low-cost programs and services. Funding sources for the future are uncertain, at best. We request your help to ensure that when the library is needed the most, we have the resources necessary to continue serving our community.
We encourage you to make a donation during the Give Big Pittsburgh COVID-19 Response campaign from May 5 – May 31. No gift is too small and helps provide essential funding for library services.
We thank all of our friends and neighbors for your continued support as we all work together on behalf of our community to help those in need.
