The Sewickley Public Library is excited to announce that as of Monday, February 10th, the library is offering automatic renewals on items checked out from the library. Automatic renewals work just like they sound. If any of the items a patron has checked out on their account are eligible for renewal, when the due date approaches, the system will automatically renew the items for you. Items can now be renewed up to six (6) times, giving library patrons plenty of extra time to use materials.

This change was adopted by all libraries in the Allegheny County Library Association – including the Sewickley Public Library – as a way to improve access to library materials for our patrons. We understand that it can be hard to keep track of item due dates and that fines can build up quickly when items become overdue. Automatic renewals are intended to remove some of the barriers to checking out library materials and offer a better service for patrons.

However, there are a few instances when an item will not be automatically renewed. This includes: items that do not offer renewals (like bestseller copies of new books and wifi hotspots), if an item is requested by another patron, if a patron has already used their allotted six (6) renewals, or if a patron has accrued more than $10 in fines.

Library users are encouraged to review their account online to see which items were automatically renewed. You can visit librarycatalog.einetwork.net to log into your account online.  Stop by or call the library at 412-741-6920 with questions about automatic renewals.
