The Sewickley Public Library is pleased to welcome author Gillian McDunn on Thursday, March 5th from 6:00 -6:45pm to discuss her writing process and her new book, The Queen Bee and Me (released date March 3, 2020).

Author of Caterpillar Summer, which was voted one of Parents Magazine Best Kids’ Books 2019 and a Kirkus Best Middle-Grades Book of 2019, McDunn continues to explore issues relevant to middle-grade readers, emphasizing the impact of compassion and understanding.

The Queen Bee and Me is a powerful story exploring middle-school friendship dynamics. Being caught between bully and victim is an area that most middle graders can relate to, and through the main character Meg’s own struggles, readers can see how to stand up for what’s right while staying true to themselves. With great emotional depth. The Queen Bee and Me is a great jumping off point for discussions in and out of school.

This event is sponsored by Penguin Bookshop. Penguin Bookshop will provide copies of McDunn’s books for sale at the event, with pre-orders available online when you visit www.penguinbookshop.com. McDunn will be available after the presentation for a book signing. Registration is required for this event and is available online.
