It’s back!

As of Monday, July 13, borrowers can once again request items through the online catalog. This includes items in the SPL collection and items from other libraries in Allegheny County. The service was disabled at the start of the pandemic to prevent an overload to the library’s system. Without libraries open to fill the requests, the system became backlogged. Library staff across the county spent the last few weeks processing the unprecedented amount of items returned since the library’s closure.  After reducing the number of requests, libraries are ready to start sharing again.

The library system in Allegheny County is made up of 46 public libraries with over 70+ locations. Known as the Allegheny County Library Association, each library is independent and has its own board of directors. The libraries in this consortium share the countywide catalog, letting users to borrow materials from any location and have it delivered to their local library.

Since the Sewickley Public Library remains closed, borrowers must schedule a Curbside Pickup time in advance to get their items. Users can request items through the online catalog. When you are notified that your item(s) are ready to be picked up, you can call the library at 412-741-6920 or visit our Curbside Pickup page to schedule a pickup time. Come to the library at the scheduled time to get  your materials.
