Libraries across the state are facing funding cuts from state and regional asset dollars that will affect services and resources, including Sewickley Public Library.

With a projected $60,000 loss of Allegheny County Regional Asset District (RAD) funding in 2010, Sewickley Public Library will be hit especially hard. State funding cuts for libraries are also proposed, ranging from 14.3% to 55.3%.

We hope that the residents and patrons of the Sewickley Public Library will contact their officials, listed below, and encourage them to freeze funding for public libraries instead of slashing libraries’ budgets. A short note, such as “Please freeze library funding next year at the same amount that it is this year” will work. Add a reason or a personal story about why the library is important to you.

Help Sewickley Public Library by sending a strong message to these officials regarding the need to continue support for our library. The state officials mailing addresses and phone numbers are below.
