About the Friends
The Friends of the Sewickley Public Library is its own independent fundraising organization that supports the library through special events and library advocacy. Join us for a special event or book sale:
Savoring Sewickley – an annual tradition for 22 years!
Each October our historic library welcomes local restaurants who generously provide tasting samples of their cuisine to our 300 guests to benefit the library. Live music, prizes, and special guest bartenders make for an evening of camaraderie and fun.
Book Sales
Three book sales benefit the library each year in February, June, and September. Come to the sale and find your next treasure, or donate your new or gently used books, DVD/Blu-rays, CDs, and audiobooks.
While we greatly appreciate donations, we CANNOT ACCEPT:
- Items that are damaged in any way (including books that have been written in)
- Items that have any evidence of mold, mildew, smoke or other odors, dirt, dust, pet hair, or water damage
- Books older than five years in the following non-fiction categories: medicine, health, finance, technology, travel, or those containing scientific data that is outdated.
- Encyclopedias or textbooks
- Books that were from another library’s collection
- Magazines
- VHS or cassette tapes
Please bring all donations inside the library to the circulation desk in the main lobby during regular library operating hours. Please do not put donations into the library book drop where they will mix with other library materials. Receipts for donations are available upon request. Donations may be paused periodically if our storage capacity is exceeded, so we recommend calling the library in advance to inquire: 412-741-6920.
