Young strategists are invited to put their skills to the test at the Sewickley Public Library’s 2026 Annual Youth Chess Tournament on Saturday, April 25 from 1–4 pm. This friendly competition is a great opportunity for students to challenge themselves, sharpen their strategy, and enjoy an afternoon of chess with fellow enthusiasts.

Participants will compete in one of two divisions: the Junior Division (Grades 1 4) and the Senior Division (Grades 5–8). Players will face off across the board in multiple
rounds, with each participant guaranteed at least two games as they work their way through the tournament. At the end of the day, top competitors will earn bragging
rights, and the title of SPL’s Chess Champion.

The tournament is designed to be welcoming for players of all skill levels, making it a fun and supportive environment for both experienced competitors and those new to tournament play. During registration, participants will be asked to provide their US Chess Federation rating, but players without a rating are still encouraged to join and take part in the competition.

Snacks and drinks will be provided. Space is limited, and registration is required to participate. Young chess players ready to make their move are encouraged to sign up and prepare for an exciting afternoon at the library.
