This summer, dig into something new at Sewickley Public Library with our all-ages Summer Reading Program, Unearth A Story. From buried treasures to hidden histories, every book has something waiting to be discovered.
Readers of all ages are invited to set their own goals, track their progress, and earn chances to win exciting prizes along the way. Whether you’re exploring a new genre, revisiting an old favorite, or uncovering stories you’ve never heard before, your next great read is just beneath the surface.

2026 Summer Reading Challenges:
KIDS
for babies, toddlers, preschool and school age children entering 5th grade
Encourage your kids to spend some time reading this summer. Not only does it help keep their minds sharp during the lazy-summer days, but they can also earn awesome incentives & win prizes!
2026 Kids Prizes:
Prizes will be drawn for two different age groups (0-5 years old & 6-11 years old)
- REGISTRATION PRIZE: Medium-sized Squishmallow
- PRIZE CHEST: Log 60 minutes of reading each week to select a prize from our prize chest.
- WEEKLY RAFFLE PRIZE: Read at least 60 minutes each week to be entered to win our featured prize of the week.
- GRAND PRIZE: Two winners will receive a Squishmallow and a gift card to Penguin Book Shop.
- BONUS PRIZE: One winner will receive a $50 gift card for the most minutes read.
TEENS
for teens entering grades 6-12
We have great programs and incentives just for teens to bust summer boredom!
2026 Teen Prizes:
- REGISTRATION PRIZE: $50 Gift Card
- WEEKLY PRIZES: $25 Gift Card
- GRAND PRIZES:
- We’re giving our prizes at different levels this summer!
- GUILDMASTER: ONE (1) TEEN who collects all 40 TSR Badges (Reading, Review & Activity) will win $150 IN GIFT CARDS
- ARCHEOLOGISTS: TWO (2) TEENS who collect all 11 TSR Reading & Review Badges will win $100 IN GIFT CARDS
- PROSPECTORS: THREE (3) TEENS who collect at least 9 TSR Activity Badges will win $50 IN GIFT CARDS
ADULTS
for ages 18+

More Summer Reading Fun @ SPL
BINGO for Adult & Teens
Back by popular demand is the Summer Reading BINGO game! Step out of your comfort zone when you aim to read through the suggested categories to get a BINGO and win a prize.
Everyone who earns a bingo will get to pick a free book from our prize carts! (More details on BINGO game sheet.) Open to all Adult & Teens. Pick up your BINGO card at the Reference Desk in the Adult Department.
Kids Paper Challenge
For our friends wanting a screen-free option for Summer Reading, pick up a Unearth a Story Paper Challenge in the Children’s Department!
Designed for children from birth through 5th grade, we invites young readers to track their progress by reading (or being read to) for one hour each week to earn fun prizes like books, bubbles, and prize chest picks. Participants who complete all 8 weeks will be entered to win a grand prize: a ticket pack from the Pittsburgh Pirates. Stop by the Children’s Department for more info!
Snow-Cone Kick-Off Party
Monday, June 8 | 1-4pm
Celebrate the beginning of an exciting reading adventure with free snow-cones at our Summer Reading Kick-Off Snow-Cone Party! Perfect for all ages—come chill with us and get ready for a season full of stories, creativity and sunshine! No registration required!
Sewickley StoryWalk
June 12– July 6
Looking for a fun, family-friendly activity that combines reading with the great outdoors? Join us for the Sewickley StoryWalk® at five area locations!
How to Log Reads
Once you’ve signed up, return to the Beanstack page or use the Beanstack app to log your reads between June 8 – August 8, 2026.
Prize drawings offered weekly. You must log each week to be eligible for that week’s prize.
Even if you’ve won a weekly prize, you are still eligible for the grand prize at the end of the program.
