The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), is the federal program that provides food benefits to low-income families. Due to the current government shutdown, SNAP is suspended as of October 16.
Library staff have compiled a list of additional local and county resources that may be of assistance during this time.
Local Resources
Sewickley Community Center Food Pantry (15 Chadwick St, Sewickley, PA 15143) – Occurs every second and fourth Wednesday of the month from 11:30-1:00 PM. Serves anyone living in the zip codes: 15143, 15056 and 15108.
Sewickley YMCA Mini Pantries – Provides a variety of non-perishable food items and personal care products in Ambridge, Leetsdale, Crescent Township, and Sewickley. For a full list of Mini Pantries, visit sewickleyymca.org/mini-pantries.
Quaker Valley Food to Families – Sewickley Valley YMCA program dedicated to community well-being by providing food boxes to individuals and families in need in the Quaker Valley School District. To enroll, contact Trish Hooper at 412-741-9622 ext. 111.
Center for Hope Ambridge (740 Park Rd, Ambridge, PA 15003) – Provides regular food pantry and assistance for Ambridge residents, and emergency bags for anyone in an emergency food situation. For more information visit thecenterforhope.com or call 724-251-4899.
Leetsdale Food Pantry – Food pantry for residents of Leetsdale borough.

Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank (GPCFD) – Resource for finding local food banks in the Greater Pittsburgh area. Call 412-460-3663 or visit pittsburghfoodbank.org/get-help.
Allegheny County Department of Human Services – Provides information and resources for food assistance for residents of Allegheny County.
