Celebrate the start of baseball season with a special evening at Sewickley Public Library featuring author Will Bardenwerper on Wednesday, April 15 from 6:00 – 7:00pm.

Bardenwerper will discuss his book Homestand: Small Town Baseball and the Fight for the Soul of America, which explores the enduring power of America’s pastime through the story of a minor league team and the close-knit community that rallies around it. Through vivid storytelling and on-the-ground reporting, the book highlights the personalities, traditions, and civic pride that make smalltown baseball a meaningful part of American culture. Following the presentation, attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions during an audience Q&A.

Bardenwerper is a journalist whose work has appeared in publications including The New York Times, The Washington Post, and Harper’s. He is also the author of The Prisoner in His Palace: Saddam Hussein, His American Guards, and What History Leaves Unsaid. Before becoming a writer, he served as an Airborne Ranger qualified infantry officer in Iraq and was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge and Bronze Star.
