The Allegheny County Libraries App officially launched on March 29! This new app is an easy way for library users to connect to library materials & services.
The app allows users to link their library card so they can easily manage their account. They can also:
- Search the catalog and request items
- Generate a digital library card to use at the library
- Link family cards
- Access digital resources
- View the library event calendar
- Use mobile checkout!
One of the biggest features from this app is the mobile checkout function. With mobile checkout, users can use the camera on their phone to scan library barcodes to checkout – similar to how the self-checkout station works. For example, users will only be able to checkout items that are available on the shelf or on hold for them. (Library staff will need still need to unlock DVD cases for users.)
Download the app through the App Store on Apple devices and the Play Store on Android devices. Ask any of our Reference Librarians is you have questions about using the app! They can walk you though getting started or answer specific questions.
