Summer is such an active and busy season in the Children’s Department! We want to make sure families are able to enjoy the great activities and collections we offer on a more consistent basis this summer. We’re offering some new hours & a new space to provide better access to the Children’s Department.

Starting Monday, July 24, the Children’s Department on the second floor will be open from 9:00am – 1:00pm, Monday – Saturday in order to provide greater predictability and reliability for all parents and caregivers.

After 1:00pm during regular library hours, we invite you to chill with us in the new children’s zone! This temporary pop-up “Chill”-dren’s area brings the best of the Children’s Department to a cooler space. The new kid’s area will be located off the lobby on the first floor. It will include new books, coloring sheets, craft takeaways (on scheduled days), summer reading prizes and friendly staff that can assist you in finding materials.

We encourage all visitors to take advantage of requesting books ahead of time via the library catalog. We will collect the titles in advance for you to pick up on the holds shelf. It’s a quick, easy way to get the books, movies and materials you want most! Can’t make it into the library? No problem! We still offer curbside pickup services for all ages.

At times, the entire library may need to close early due to excessive heat in the building. If this happens, it will be posted on our website at sewickleylibrary.org, but if in doubt, please call 412-741-6920 before visiting.
